Meet Cooper the „Wild One“ 🤣🐾🐾 (Not really, he‘s actually very chilled 😎) #drdog
The notion of the pack leader has been debunked by science years ago. This was rooted in flawed observations of wolves and captivity in the 60s and 70s. You don’t have to dominate your dog all you have to do is take care of him. Unfortunately, many who call themselves dog trainers are still using this outdated notion. Some simply because it makes for cheap clicks on social media or good TV. There is no excuse nowadays for being ignorant as a dog parent. The information is out there, available and scientifically proven. No discussion. Don’t dominate your dog, just be a “Kahu”.

Calming signals are important. Learn to properly interpret your dog’s body language so you can see if you need to help them. Look for the typical signs of stress: Lip licking, yawning, avoidance, the whale eye etc. Consult a certified behaviourist who will teach you what to look for.
